As a pediatrician and a mom who breastfed my first baby for almost 2 years, I thought that breastfeeding my second baby was going to be easy. I was wrong! When I left the hospital I had deep cracks in both nipples and excruciating pain each time she latched. I was discouraged and wanted to give up. Thankfully, Laraine came to my home and helped me. We worked on adjusting my baby’s latch and got creative with different positions and techniques that would allow me to heal. After just over a week of patience, persistence, and a lot of cheerleading, I was able to maintain a comfortable latch by myself and enjoy my breastfeeding experience again.
